Our Product Managers are experts in creating exciting adventure holidays for families. By slowing down the itineraries, we ensure journey times are minimised and days are not too long. We also use hotels with swimming pools were possible, so kids can burn off excess energy and parents can relax. Lastly, we add our special ingredient – our Product Managers’ sense of fun! They scoured the earth looking for activities that kids would love to do, and came up with some crackers. Check out what you could be enjoying with your kids on one of our family adventures.
Visit adopted elephant in Sri Lanka
The group go on a unique tour of villages and farms near Giritale by “Land Masters” which are tractor drawn trailers – it’s a real chance to interact with the locals who are always highly amused to see foreigners using this local form of transport that they themselves use in rural communities. Also, we get to visit Serendip (the elephant) at the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Centre. She’s sponsored by Explore and was named in a competition by one of the children of our family travellers. Tour: Elephant Odyssey
Learn a martial art in Vietnam
Our partners in Vietnam have pioneered some unique activities for us – how about learning a martial art?! Kinh Van Van was the defensive art practiced by the soldiers of the Imperial City of Hue. When we stay in the city we take a class. We also stay on a junk overnight and sea kayak into caves around Halong Bay. Tour: Vietnam Encompassed
Stay in a fort in India
We stay in a restored Rajput fort (complete with swimming pool and badminton court!) in the village of Pachewar and ride bullock carts to explore. We also ride camels in the desert and elephants up to the palace at Amber. Tour: Taj, Tigers & Palaces
Cruise in a 50's american car in Cuba
Sightseeing round old Havana is always interesting, as you never know what is around the next corner, however for our family tours we thought we would make it even more exciting by cruising round the streets in one of those big old 1950s American cars - this is the only way to travel in Havana! On our teenage tours to Cuba, we thought we would help break the ice on the first day with a salsa lesson. Cubans are always looking for a chance to party and when the occasion arises we want to be there to join them! Tour: Salsa de Cuba or the teen tour: Viva Cuba!
Visit bear refuge in canada
Canada, the pioneer country of big lakes and bigger mountains. When you travel to Canada the one thing you want to do is see a grizzly bear, but not too close up! As kids make a nice picnic-sized lunch for a bear we decided to visit the Kicking Horse Bear Refuge where orphaned bears are cared for in the world’s largest enclosed and protected grizzly bear habitat. This enables us to observe grizzlies in their natural environment from a safe distance – if you go there say hi to Boo the bear from us! Tour: Western Canada Pioneer
Camp out Indian style in the USA
Visiting the old wild west of America would not be the same without going to Monument Valley, the famous backdrop for all those old western films. For our families though we take it a step further and head into the valley to stay in tepees on a Navajo reservation, where we join the Navajo for an evening meal and sit around the camp fire listening to their fascinating stories. Tour: Into the Wild West
Climb Mt. Kinabalu in Borneo
There is a great opportunity on the teen departure dates to climb the highest mountain in SE Asia – Mt Kinabalu ( 4101m) where we watch the sun rise. Tour: Land of the Orang Utan
Visit cheetah reserve in Nambia
Our journey through Namibia includes two opportunities to learn more about many people’s favourite cat – the cheetah – with visits to the Cheetah Conservation Fund and Ojitotongwe Cheetah Reserve. Tour: Namibia Cheetah Safari
Climb Mt. Sinai in Egypt
The Sinai peninsular holds many treasures for an adventurous family. We climb the heights of Mt Sinai for wide reaching views and watch a magical sunset. Our camping Bedouin style in the Ras Mohammed national park is also a highlight as we can swim in the protected waters to see if we can find our own ‘Nemo’s’! Tour: Sinai Explorer
Tea with the monkeys in Kenya
During our time in the Rift Valley lakes we include High Tea on the lawn at Elsamere, the home of Joy Adamson of Born Free fame. We may even be joined by extra guests in the form of black and white colobus monkeys! Tour: Kenyan Parks & Swahili Coast
Egyptian art class
Off the beaten track our ‘teen’ tour explores Lake Nasser’s hidden treasures. We will trek amongst the sand dunes and swim in the lake. We can also make our own Egyptian treasure by taking part in an art class in the Egyptian museum where we will learn to make our own statues and other art work. To complete this family adventure we try windsurfing on the Red Sea as well as the more traditional snorkelling trip over the coral reefs. Tour: Egyptian Nile Adventure
