Turkey has an 'abundance of natural beauty'

People on adventure holidays will be able take in 311 Blue Flag beaches

Turkey is an ideal destination for people planning to take an adventure holiday in the region, due to the huge amount of "natural beauty" dotted around the country.

Joanna Marsh, who is the press relations co-ordinator for the official promotional body, said that the country boasts a huge range of natural attractions.

"Turkey boasts an abundance of natural beauty: [It offers] 311 Blue Flag beaches, 39 national parks and 17 thermal spa resorts, as well as wonders such as the fairy chimneys of Cappadocia and calcium rock formations of Pamukkale (literally translated as 'cotton castle')," she said.

Cappadocia's 'fairy chimneys' are unique stone formations that stretch out of the dusty ground up in columns of sedimentary rocks that can reach up to the height of a multi-storey building.

One of Turkey's most impressive natural features is the Bosphorus river, which runs through Istanbul and separates the European and Asian parts of Turkey.
