Bogota's culinary scene is quietly becoming 'great'
E-mail Print

Native Colombian food is coming on greatly, says travel writer

Colombia is a great destination for people planning to take adventure holidays, due the fantastic natural sights on show, but the "culinary scene" of the capital is fast becoming a reason for visiting the South American country.

Vicky Baker, a travel writer based in Argentina, wrote in the Guardian about the fantastic native dishes and ingredients available around Bogota.

One such dish that Ms Baker tried was prawns "dyed with seeds that Colombian Indians traditionally use as face paint". The person who prepared the meal told the journalist of the versatility of Colombian cuisine.

"[The chef] informs me that Colombia is the second most biodiverse country on the planet, pointing out that juice menus in Bogota - featuring fruit from the Amazon, the Caribbean and the Pacific - often run to a full page," she noted.

Ms Baker finished by noting that with this huge "range of ingredients, the city's culinary scene has come on hugely in recent years".
