Sydney is ideal for activity breaks in the sun

The city of Sydney in the Australian state of New South Wales is the ideal location for travellers seeking exciting activity breaks in the sun.

Commonly hailed as one of Australia's most well-known and beautiful cities, Sydney is one of the country's major destinations for adventure activities.

There is always something exciting happening in Sydney and regional New South Wales throughout the year, from sports events and surf carnivals to stage shows, art exhibitions and large-scale music festivals.

Sandra Chipchase, chief executive officer at Destination NSW, pointed out that there are a number of exciting events taking place in the region over the next few months.

"October will see thousands of foodies descend upon Sydney from all over the world for the Crave Sydney International Food Festival," she said.

"And in December, the site of the Sydney 2000 Olympics will come alive with the roar of V8 engines for the V8 Supercar Series."

Sydney is also a popular destination for New Year's Day revellers, who descend on the city to experience the spectacular fireworks display at Sydney Harbour and the Harbour Bridge.
