Slovakia is 'surprising' as a hiking holiday destination

Travel writer suggests taking a trip to eastern European country

Although it is relatively little-known as a holiday hot-spot, Slovakia is an ideal destination for people planning adventure holidays.

That is the opinion of Sarah Gordon, travel writer for the Daily Mail, who wrote in the news publication that the eastern European country is pleasantly "surprising" and also a great choice for people planning hiking holidays.

Ms Gordon said that some of the best places to walk in the area are through "[Slovakia's] conifers and even over the summit of the mountains into neighbouring Poland".

"With homemade food served for no more than a couple of euros, they are ideal lunch spots and a wholesome soup, laden with sauerkraut, potato, sausage or lentils and washed down with a refreshing kofola … became my staple," she added.

People taking hiking holidays to the area will be able to trek through the High Tatras National Park, which is partly in Slovakia and partly in Poland.
