Why book this tour?

Hotel_Nacional_Havana

On this 'In Style' tour we stay in a series of distinctive hotels, chosen for their comfort and character. In Havana we enjoy the grandeur of the landmarks Hotel Nacional and Hotel Presidente, both spectacularly located in the Vedado district of central Havana. Evoking the elegance and sophistication of the 1930s, Hotel Nacional has seen the likes of Churchill, Sinatra and Ernest Hemingway grace its neoclassical hallways. The impressive Hotel Presidente, Havana’s first high-rise building, was fully refurbished in 2000 to reflect the grandeur of its recent past.

Overview

Based in comfortable hotels, we explore this fascinating Caribbean island. We tour the capital Havana and travel to the spectacular landscape of ‘mogotes’ in Vinales. We also drive into the Sierra Maestra Mountains to walk through the jungle to Fidel Castro’s revolutionary headquarters at ‘La Plata’, visit the historic Bay of Pigs – the site of the failed 1961 US invasion of Cuba, and explore attractive colonial towns including Trinidad. We then relax on the sandy beaches of Cayo Ensenachos.

Tour Highlights

  • Havana – Experience the faded colonial splendour and vibrancy of Cuba’s capital
  • Vinales Valley - Admire the steep limestone hills (mogotes) rising from the valley floor. Learn how Cuba’s famous cigars are made
  • Trinidad – Enjoy the laidback atmosphere of this colonial town. Dance at Casa de la Musica or sip a rum cocktail under the stars
  • Comandancia de la Plata – Trek through the jungle to Fidel’s 1950’s rebel headquarters
  • Caribbean beach - Enjoy the pristine beach setting of Cayo Ensenachos.

What we say

eileen-harvard

Staff Member Eileen Harvard travelled on this tour in 2008.

"I loved the walks in Vinales & the short hike up to Plata de la Comandancia , the  scenery was spectacular.  The Salsa music of Santiago & Trinidad, everyone comes out in the evenings to dance and socialise and it was great to mix and have fun with the locals.  Relax for a few days on the beach, soft sand, crystal sea – cocktails – spa – pure bliss!"
