Starting at Barra's lighthouse, the tour continues up the coastal hills through the squares and narrow cobbled streets, with its colourful colonial buildings, statues, and churches, you arrive at Pelourinho, the heart of the city and the important African-Brazilian Nossa Senhora do Rosario dos Pretos Church.

Transfer to Lençóis
Transferring west from Salvador passing through the flat, dry lands of the Sertao, Brazil's desert interior, you will arrive in the old diamond mining town of Lençóis. The area around the town and the nearby Chapada Diamantina National Park is a green oasis in the dusty outback. Flat-topped mountains rise up suddenly from the flats and the valleys between are covered in lush forests. The afternoon has been left free for you to explore the colourful colonial streets of the town. You may also choose to swim at the beautiful Serrano Falls a short walk from the town centre.

Explore caves in Chapada Diamantina National Park
This morning you will begin your day with a visit to Iraquara, also known as the City of Caves it is home to some of the most impressive caves and underground rivers in the Chapada Diamantina National Park. Your guide will show you around Lapa Doce cave, pointing out various rock formations and stalagmites, continuing on to Pratinha Farm for lunch and a swim in the crystal clear waters of Pratinha River. From here you will take a short hike to Poço do Diabo Waterfall, and then on to the top of Pai Inácio Mountain for panoramic views just in time for sunset!

Trek to Waterfalls
Take a guided trek to the top of Cachoeira de Fumaca - Smoke Waterfall so named due to the fine mist it creates. Starting at Capão Valley, you will trek along a 2km path that winds up to the flat top of Serra do Sincora, with stunning views across the valley and to the other mountains. Continuing along the flat top of the mountain, you reach Cachoeira da Fumaca, which at 400m is thought to be the highest waterfall in Brazil. After enjoying the impressive views you'll return to your hotel, stopping for a swim in the Riachinho Waterfall along the way.
