Walking In Andalucia

Overview

The Old 'Silk Route'
Our days are spent exploring this region of rugged limestone hills and green valleys on foot. Walking along historic mule paths, developed over the centuries to connect individual farms to trade routes, finally linking together to form the ancient silk trail to Granada. We make regular stops; to discover a timeless Moorish village or to pause at a vineyard to rest and try some of the sweet local wine for which this area is famous.

Best of Andalucia
With a mid week rest day, you may wish to explore a little further afield and discover something more of Andalucia. The magnificent Alhambra Palace at Granada, or the Mediterranean coast, are both within easy reach of Canillas. Our evenings are spent eating and drinking al fresco in the village square, enjoying some of the best food in Andalucia, served by Gustavo and his family. Towards the end of the week there's the opportunity for keener walkers to ascend El Lucero (1,769m), one of the highest peaks in the area.
