What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

Watching the sun rise over the Taj Mahal was pretty special, especially as the weather up to then had been disappointing and very untypical.

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

Atul was a quiet, thoughtful guide who never the less was always approachable and willing to share his local knowledge with the group.

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

Bring extra batteries for your camera, also an additional memory card for peace of mind. If travelling before March, it can be cold and wet so definitely be prepared for this.

Do you have anything else to add?

The second week was more relaxed than the first week, there was not  so much travelling and we got to stay at some nice locations for longer.

I expect seeing the Taj Mahal is a lifetime wish.

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

Really excellent - the most accommodating leader we have ever had.

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

If you go over the December January period plan for cold weather - as cold as any English winter.

Do you have anything else to add?

The weather was a big disappointment for this particular tour. We had foggy mornings around Delhi and cold days. The bad weather only lasts about 1 month- perhaps tours should not be run during this period if you are to have a really excellent holiday.

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

"Into the Desert, swaying up high
On top of a camel, beneath azure sky,
Deep silence – apart from the camel feet crunch –
Into the shade? – and we’re stopping for lunch!
Laughter at dinner – we’re heroes – we’re chums,
Lounging in sand that will cushion sore bums!
Next morning we’re rocking and rolling once more –
We’re feeling like film stars – stiff bones we ignore –
We’re World Explorers – we’re Sultans – we’re Sheiks –
Then into our dream world Reality breaks –
The end of our odyssey – what’s waiting for us?
A lion? – A Unicorn? No – it’s OUR BUS! "

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

"Abi – dear Abi – the Best Leader ever,
Competent, organised, funny and clever -
Intrepidly leading our motley great band
Across Rajasthan, through its cities and sand,
Mandawa’s Diwali – you lost no one there -
In spite of the mobs we’re secure in your care.
Jaisalmer doctors – Pushkar’s huge Fair –
We all emerged safely, and gladly aware
That Abi was waiting – big smiles on his face
To whisk us all off to the next special place.
In Udaipur – leaving us freely to roam
He then brought us all to his own family home -
Delightfully welcomed, and watered and fed,
He then had us driven back happy to bed.
Lastly in Delhi – without fuss or strain
He sent us off calmly to airport or train.
Abi – dear Abi – The Best in our eyes
We know you deserve that Best Leader First Prize!"

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

"To anyone heading out Rajasthan-wise
A few “words of wisdom” to you lucky guys –
1. Make sure that your camel has stirrups – if not
Your legs will get ragged, your bum burning hot.
2. Make sure that your bottom is padded up high
If not – it will rub raw – and blood makes you cry.
3.Germoline plastered on thickly, we think
Cures all saddle sores – and will turn your pants pink.
4. If at any point you go
Off Exploring – purely SOLO
Kindly tell your entire group
Lest they fear you’re in the soup –
Panicking, and tearing hair –
Tell them WHERE if you’re not there."
