What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

"Just returned from this tour ,  it was a well organised, fun packed adventure and a great way to see a diverse and historic country.

The trip offers a great insight into China life and history travelling on sleeper trains to get to destinations and a boat on the River Li to see the Yang shuo limestone pinnacles.

At Xian the Terracotta Warriors were just amazing,   the vastness has to be seen to be believed and was a sight I will never forget.

Tiananmen Square, Forbidden city are historical points of interest.  The Great wall was spectacular we woke up to blue sky and sunshine and with an early start we arrived before the crowds and managed to get photos of the snaking wall with no visitors!"

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

Tracy

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

Explore need to check Chinese public holidays and avoid trips on these days if possible.  The sheer volume of people on a public holiday is very hard and will cause upset as attractions will not be shown at their best.

Do you have anything else to add?

"WELL DONE EXPLORE

On a negative note we had 20 people on the trip which was a lot, but Tracy was very capable and ran this efficiently by good communication.  I think other guides would of struggled.  It was advertised as 14 -18 people trip.   The group was well balanced witha ll ages and we all got on which helped Tracy as we had no issues that i was aware of.  She was a quick thinker when she faced a crisis ( we arrived at a wrong station ).  Her people management skills shone out as she managed us all,  when she said ""stay here while I go and check"" we all stayed together and did not wander off etc....."

This was my 3rd Explore tour, and my first long haul trip and I loved every minute!! It really is a non-stop highlights trip by various modes of transport, bus, train, plane and boat. My personal favourite places were the Wild Goose Pagoda and the Han tombs (optional) in Xian, the light show (optional) and haggling in Yangshuo were both brilliant fun and the serene temples at the Summer Palace  in Beijing were a welcome break from the hustle and bustle if the city. The Tang Show and Dumpling Banquet (32 courses!) is an absolute must. (HC - 13th May 2010)

Absolutely fantastic. We packed so much in in the 10 days but, thanks to the local guides, still got a real good feel for the many different aspects of China. There was nothing I didn't enjoy, from the ultra-modern Hong Kong to the stunning scenery of the River Li; from the imperial splendour of the Forbidden City and Terracotta Warriors to the tranquility of paddy fields and Temple of Heaven gardens. The optional excursions were great as well- the Impression on Sanjie Liu show is a must. The guides were flexible enough to arrange a trip to the Olympic Stadium which is a great space. The History of Hong Kong museum is well worth a visit as well. It was easy to find places to eat with English menus and vegetarian food if required. All in all brilliant and thoroughly recommended.
