How was your Explore Tour Leader?

Our tour leader, Sarah Quee, was excellent.  Possessing comprehensive knowledge of the area, she enjoyed very good relationships with the locals and she instilled confidence in the group despite the challenging nature of the terrain.  She quickly assessed the ability of each member of the group, giving assistance and support where necessary, while allowing those who were capable to forge ahead and explore the route. This enabled all four of us on the trip to get the most out of the trek and appreciate this amazing trail.  With her experience, agility and personality, Sarah was absolutely central to ensuring the holiday was such a success.  She was an absolute delight and I would be thrilled to walk with her again - I cannot recommend her highly enough.

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

Ensure that you have experience of trekking and scrambling over difficult, steep and varied terrain, and have the fitness and enthusiasm to match!

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

There were so many memorable moments. The night sky with clear mountain air and no light pollution, so dense with stars. Swimming in a crystal-clear pool in a mountain stream on a baking day. Arriving at a col after three hours climbing, and being rewarded with spectacular mountain views in all directions. Sharing a beer at the end of a long day. This tour was packed with special moments.

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

I can't say enough about our tour leader. She had lived in Corsica for 15 years and was passionate and knowledgeable about the place, the people and especially about the mountains and the GR20 itself. Everywhere we went the locals all knew her and accorded her special respect - I am sure we got special treatment at the refuges and bergeries because she is so well known and respected.

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

OK - you know that you need to be fit. Yes - it is strenuous. But it is also beautiful. Don't see the GR20 as a "challenge" to be somehow "survived" - see it as the gateway to some of the most spectacular mountain scenery that you will ever see. Go - do it. It is a fantastic trip.

Do you have anything else to add?

If you want to see the sort of scenery that you can find, go to www.flickr.com and search for "ExploreGR20".
