What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

"Just being able to discover a new country by bike, being in the fresh air, following the riverside. The cycle paths were good to bike on and it was great having no traffic.
The views from Konigstein were amazing. "

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

Anna was great, she was an excellent guide who knew her way around, was informative, chatty and mixed in well with whole group.

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

This bike tour is an easy ride, Prague does need some extra days added either before or after tour.

Do you have anything else to add?

I was disappointed a couldnt bike at my own pace, I found the pace too slow for me. I would have like it if we had arrived a little earlier in the towns and cities, as most times it was like 5pm, and then we had to get ready for dinner by 6pm, so it was very rushed, and then we didnt get to see the town or city we were actually staying in that night.

Our response

Thank you for some very useful feedback on the timings – we have taken good note of that.  As regards the pace … on some of our cycling tours it is possible for customers to cycle separately, and meet up at agreed points along the route.

But on this trip, there are so many turns to be taken off each route being cycled along that there would be continual stopping and waiting to ensure that everyone is going the right way.  We can always provide information before booking on any cycling trip if this is an aspect of a tour which is important.

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

It was so pleasant cycling along flat, good cycle paths all the way with no interference with traffic. Occasionally we had to use a bit of road to reach our hotel destination, but it was fine. There were very few hills and the pace was just right.

She was exceptionally good, very organised, planned and helpful. She was informative, her English was good, and she had a sense of humour and a cheeful manner.

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

Don't judge it with cycling in Britain. The cycle paths are excellent, and the bikes provided are also very good.

Do you have anything else to add?

Only that I thoroughly enjoyed the holiday, and would recommend it to anyone interested in cycling without necessarily being a 'serious' cyclist.

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

There were so many memorable moments: strolling across Charles Bridge in Prague; learning the dark history of the fortress of Terezin; wine tasting in Melnik; exploring Dresden; looking down on the Elbe from the ramparts of Konigstein, Europe's biggest fortress; visiting the porcelain factory in Meissen. But for me the highlight was arriving by bike into historic market towns like Litomerice and Pirna, with their cobbled squares and timber framed buildings, and settling down with a long, cold, well earned beer!

Anna was brilliant: cheerful, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and organised. She led the rides at a relaxed and easy pace so we could really enjoy the beautiful Czech and German countryside. Having done this trip a few times before her route finding was spot on: not a single wrong turn in 240 km!

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

The cycling is easy and the pace is relaxed, mainly on smooth tarmac cycle paths alongside the river. Definitely more of a 'holiday' than a 'challenge'. If you haven't been to Prague before you might want to tag on an extra day or two to see more of the city.

Do you have anything else to add?

Excellent itinerary, leader and group - what more could you ask for?

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

There were many memorable highlights which tapped into different parts of the holiday. Firstly the simple achievement of cycling across Europe and covering 240KM was a mjor hightlight, and something I can dine out on for years. Secondly the fabulous accomodation which surprised me, as I didnt expect anything quite as good. Finally the restaurants and the food that were booked by our guide were exemplary. Outstanding!!
