What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

We took our boys aged 14 & 11 for their first trip abroad as a family  to a more exciting location. we chose Explore as we wanted the assurance that everything would be taken care of and we could concentrate on enjoying ourselves rather than worrying about arranging transport, tickets etc. it also enabled us to do a dynamic and action packed trip around a truly fascinating country. The highlights were many but I think watching the boys faces during many of the days out was the best reward! The jeep safari with a hair raising drive over sand dunes, the excitement when they realised that you truly do float in the dead sea, camel riding and a first try at snorkling in the red sea with all the exotic marine fish means they are still reliving their experiences now we are home.

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

Moved was great, he deserved to be your tour leader of the month. Nothing was too much trouble for him. We were able, as a group, to delay our start time a couple of mornings to allow for the fact we had children in the group who found it difficult to get up very early in the morning. He was kind when one if the party needed medical assistance part way through the trip. You can see that he was a child friendly leader by his smiles for the children in the trip, and we have a fantastic photo if him surrounded by a group of laughing kids.

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

Go to Jordan, it is an amazing destination, the boys will never forget their trip and they didn't miss their electronic games as we were way too busy. Take a few breakfast bars for Wadi Rum as children may not like the food (great food for adults though).

Few people seem to consider Jordan when mulling over potential holiday destinations; as a result, it is virtually pristine, a clean, bustling, beautiful country that I would recommend to anyone. From Day One we were slathering ourselves in mineral-rich mud before floating, dreamlike, on the bright waters of the Dead Sea, a clear indication of the surreal uniqueness of the tour. Petra, a famed and yet unjustly overlooked Wonder of the World, literally took my breath away. The locals, Bedouin tribesmen, are infinitely friendly and funny: as I sat on the rug-laden floor of a Bedouin's shop, overlooking the stunningly rugged mountain view just beyond the Monastery, I was offered sweet homebrewed tea by the shopkeeper, despite having bought nothing (yet). On the same day, I was presented with a camel bone necklace as a gift from a toothless tribeswoman, and I galloped on horseback through the narrow, rose-red Siq, Indiana-Jones style, offered a ride free of charge by a cheeky Bedouin teen. It was the best day of my life - no exaggeration. Rocketing over towering sand dunes in creaky 4x4's, sleeping under the stars in the desert and watching showers of shooting stars, and snorkelling with newly made friends in the azure coral-filled waters of the warm Red Sea followed, and by the time I boarded the plane home I was certain that I had experienced the holiday of a lifetime. Jordan really has got it all. ( FDT - 29th July 2011)
