What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

I thoroughly enjoyed the stilt village in the lake. To wake up in middle of lake and look out at sunrise to see the children on their boats made of oil drums paddling at you from out of the mist. Magical!

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

Tour leader knew this tour backwards and ensured everything ran smoothly. He spoke good English and knew many intersting stories.

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

Be prepared it ends so quickly, but whilst you are there it is fabulous.

Do you have anything else to add?

I loved it, it was an experience like nowhere I'd been before. I'm so glad I went.

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

The whole tour was a highlight. I found the people and places fascinating. The village dances and festivities were great as we felt so included and special.

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

Tour leader was proficient and effective. He knew the score. When bribes or incentives were required he knew how to organise it. When there was a chain of command he knew who to speak to. He was well respected and revered by the locals and that meant we got treated very well and had access to what we wanted to see and do.

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

Go with the flow. get involved, dance a bit. You cannot make a fool of yourself the local people will love you for the participation. Don't view voodoo as a dark art from harry potter. It is a way of life and creates a good base for social morals and standards.

Do you have anything else to add?

I loved it and would go back tomorrow. It was expensive but I've not done anything or seen anything like this ever. I now fancy returning for the longer trip including Burkina Faso.

This was a flying visit. Chose it to get a grip on the voodoo religion. Only to find out voodoo is more like a supersticion overlaying a predominantly christian part of Africa. Too many highlights to remember all in order. There was the lady with her eyes turned back into her head gyrating and wailing to the hypnotic sound of the samba band. In fact samba was everywhere, the slaves took it with them from here to Brazil. We had a chance to check out the Christian Celestial church where the congregation became possessed and talking in tongues. That was after meeting the man on road painted head to toe in rainbow colours. Dancing, costumes and music was a highlight for sure as well as meeting a tribal king who bought me a beer, Cheers! Then the long boat ride to stay in the stilt village. Wow. Infact wow again. It was rustic, isolated but so homely. The fortune teller came to see us. Dont miss it, its part of the culture. I was revered by the teller coz the shells turned up the same way that I had to buy everyone a drink, including the kids watching b & w tv in the corner. I will never forget this holiday! Tip of the day, - when you stay in a posh hotel, wear speedo's. Shorts are not accepted in the pool.
