What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

"Getting up high in the hills (not exactly mountains) and eating a picnic overlooking nothing but hills and valleys was inspiring.
Certainly the best food I have had in Spain, and some of the best food I have ever had anywhere. This was a very unexpected bonus.
On another day eating sandwiches whilst sheltering from the rain sitting under a bridge was certainly memorable. "

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

"Excellent leader, full of local knowledge, history and culture. His own enthusiasm for his subject was obvious. Great walking guide, managed our expectations well and was supportive when one or two chose to sit it out. Walks were interesting, varied and Craig enthusiastically pointed out everything of interest. Very good at finding great places to eat, and advising us about the menu. A welcoming host in the guest house he runs which is also his home.
I would seek out this leader for other trips. "

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

Mid February was a bit early and definitely taking a chance with the weather. We had quite a bit of rain. It was lovely when the sun came out for one and a half days. Craig did what he could about this - was good at monitoring the accurate weather forecast and he changed our itinerary to make best use of what sun there was. It was cold in the evenings. Even in the restaurants with log fires I was cold in jeans and thermal leggings/vest. This was the only downside of the holiday and I would advise against going so early in the year as it spoilt an otherwise excellent trip.

Do you have anything else to add?

Although I really enjoyed the food I would also have enjoyed more al fresco eating of picnics in the hills. On the occasions we did this the choice of food in the local shops was uninspiring. Perhaps there could be the option of buying ready made picnics. This would also give support to the local economy.
