April - Costa Rica

Explore the amazing biodiversity of Costa Rica in April, before the wet season begins in May. See sloths, howler monkeys and capuchins in their rainforest habitat, along with toucans, quetzals, hummingbirds and iridescent butterflies.

May - Botswana

Safari in Botswana during the ‘green season’, after the rains while the landscape is at its most beautiful - lush and green with the waterways in full flow. Grazing animals are calving in May so you can expect to see the predators in action.

June - Uganda

June is an excellent month for tracking the endangered mountain gorilla in Uganda. The long rains come to an end in May while temperatures and humidity levels drop sharply, making your trek to find the gorilla families much easier.

July - Spitsbergen

Visit Spitsbergen in July to see majestic polar bears prowling the shorelines as the ice-floes melt. The concentration of marine mammals during this brief period of summer provides the bears with food to survive the coming winter.

August - Galapagos

A visit to the Galapagos Islands at any time of year is remarkable, but in August, mid-way through the dry season, migrant shore birds start to arrive and colonies of Blue Footed boobies become active, while giant tortoises move to the highland meadows in search of food.

September - Madagascar

The dry season in Madagascar runs from April to November, but September onwards is the best time to see lemurs, as temperatures start to increase and they become more active. Birding is also excellent in September, the start  of the breeding season.
