When to Travel

Costa Rica has a tropical climate with high humidity and rainfall. The rainy season is from May to November but it does still tend to rain, usually in short bursts, throughout the year. The average temperature is 21°C in the highlands. December to March and July to November are the best times to visit Corcovado National Park for whale-watching.  For turtle-watching in Tortuguero National Park the best time to visit is August and September.

VOLCANOES, BIO-DIVERSITY, WILDLIFE

Costa Rica, meaning “Rich Coast” in Spanish, really lives up to its name. Situated between the Pacific Ocean on the west and the Caribbean Sea on the east, this small country is a wildlife and adventure-lovers’ paradise, where unspoilt beaches meet tropical forests, jungle waterways and fiery volcanoes.

Meet Hanna Holmes, Regional Specialist for Costa Rica

Hanna-Holmes
With its many protected areas and national parks, Costa Rica has an abundance of flora and fauna in its tropical rainforests. Volcanoes and waterfalls scatter the country that is full of untouched areas and pristine landscapes. Costa Ricans are extremely proud of their country and more than happy to show you the local hotspots. A highlight has to be zip-lining across a bright blue waterfall hidden among the trees, while listening to howler monkeys and birdlife around me. The greeting ‘Pura Vida’, or ‘pure life’ cannot better describe the environment and way of life of this untouched paradise..

Arenal Volcano National Park

Costa-Rica-Arenal-Volcano

“With its classic conical shape, Arenal Volcano is a must see. Currently it is in a resting phase, however until 2010 it was one of the Costa Rica’s most active volcanoes.”
