Highlights of the United Kingdom

Discover the very best of outdoor beauty in the UK. With an abundance of rugged landscapes, explore the highlights of the UK on foot or by bike on one of our small group vacations.

Escape to a lesser-visited part of the UK with a small group discovery trip to Northumberland. This secret gem boasts beautiful wild fells veiled in soft purple heather, and grand relics of a bygone era including Linsifarne Castle, Berwick Ramparts and the Vindolanda Roman fort. Walk along Hadrian’s Wall on our walking trip to Northumberland to discover timeworn milecastles and turrets or pedal the width of England to Northumberland’s east coast on our Cycling Coast to Coast Tour

Lake District

As the sun dips behind the dark craggy mountains, soft rays of light turn the glassy waters of Buttermere Lake a glorious burnt orange and the lush green valleys seem ever more vibrant as they fall into shadow. Whether you choose to join our Lake District Walking Tour or pedal across the width of England on our Coast to Coast Cycling Adventure, you’ll uncover spectacular views around every corner you turn in the UK’s Lake District.

Discover towering limestone cliffs, secluded creeks and unspoilt golden beaches on a walking vacation along the UK’s wild Pembrokeshire Coast. Typically quieter than Cornwall and Devon, Pembrokeshire is a place where you can really get up close with an abundance of seabirds, colourful wildflowers and maybe even an Atlantic grey seal. Wander through bluebell woods and wildlife-rich marshes at Abermawr Bay and explore the traditional fishing harbour of Abercastle before joining a sea kayaking excursion along the clear, turquoise-hued waters of the Atlantic.

Orkney Islands

Teeming with puffin colonies and world-famous archaeological sites, the landscapes of the Orkney Islands are a must-visit for all walkers. On the Mainland you’ll find the Brough of Deerness, a settlement dating back to the Viking ages, as well as an eerie collapsed sea cave. Meanwhile, the Isle of Westray - home to just 600 people - boasts one of the largest seabird colonies in the British Isles, with puffin normally being spotted between April and mid-August. For a dive into the past, Rousay Island boasts an abundance of archaeological monuments, earning it the nickname of ‘The Egypt of the North’.

Yorkshire Dales

Combining the beautifully scenic landscapes and cultural heritage of North Yorkshire, the Yorkshire Dales are idyllic for walkers of all skill levels. On a Yorkshire Dales trekking trip, you’ll take a glimpse into the past at Castle Bolton - once a prison to Mary Queen of Scots - as well as at the Ribblehead Viaduct, a feat of Victorian engineering. Meanwhile, in the present, wander the charming town of Settle where you’ll find bustling markets and picturesque countryside.

Isle of Skye

Renowned for its iconic sweeping landscapes and imposing mountains, the Isle of Skye showcases the best of Scotland’s natural beauty. As the largest island of the Inner Hebrides it has no shortage of hiking trails scattered across rugged, coastal interior. On a Walk the Northwest Highlands and Skye trip you’ll explore the highlights such as the spiky mountainscape of the Cuillin Hills, as well as the sea views from the Quiraing landslip.

Trek to the summit of this iconic Welsh pinnacle. Enjoy sweeping views across the peaks and troughs of the Welsh valleys, and towards the wild Irish Sea, on this quieter, and arguably prettier, route away from the main tourist tracks. Mind the sheep as you gain height, edging towards the top, and feel a huge sense of achievement as you ascend the last few steps to the highest point in Wales.

South Downs

Dust off your walking boots and get set for a scenic wander along the chalky-white paths of the South Downs Way on the UK's South Coast. Fields of green and gold embrace the undulating hillsides, interspersed by clusters of organic woodland. Uncover the Bronze-age ruins of Chanctonbury Ring overlooking the stately grounds of Wiston Estate and sample delicious English sparkling wine before heading into the verdant burrow of Devil’s Dyke.
