Our Walking Calendar

Here's our walking calendar for 2017 filled with both easy and more challenging walks and treks to see you through 2017.

Jan – Southern hemisphere - New Zealand, Patagonia

When the cold and dark days are getting too much, where better to go than the Southern hemisphere for a bit of summer sun and some fantastic walking. You’ll find glaciers, mountains, lakes and some great hiking trails in both New Zealand and Patagonia (Argentina/Chile) and January really is a perfect time to explore them both.

Feb - Canaries

If you’re looking for winter sun and walking, but would rather stay closer to home, then the Canary Islands are your best bet for a February getaway. Get away from the resorts and into the hinterland of these impressive islands, discover the volcanoes and cloud forests on these moderate walking trips.

Mar – Portugal and its Islands (Madeira/Azores)

Spring flowers and whale and dolphin watching are great reasons to get out on a walking trip to Madeira or The Azores in March. Although never guaranteed, this is a good time to take up an optional excursion to see these magnificent sea mammals as a break from your walking but also a wonderful time to see the blooming spring flowers that Madeira is famous for, and has a festival based around.

Apr – Spain (south)

Before things really start to heat up, get yourself along to some of the beautiful, early spring flowered, trails of Southern Spain. Indulge in some great food, great wine and forget the guilt as you’ve been walking all day. Let the tapas tantalise your taste buds on one of our Spanish trips.

May – Italy

May is known as the ‘Month of Roses’ in Italy and there’s a feast of flora all sorts to be enjoyed on countryside trails. The weather is pleasantly warm but not too hot – perfect for walking. The food is always great in Italy but with early summer produce starting to ripen in May, the array of mouthwatering dishes on offer widens.

Jun – Morocco

Leaving the cities behind, head up into the Atlas mountains in June for some cooler, fresher air and some magnificent views of the Moroccan mountain ranges. Landscapes should still be green and lush after the spring rains and really pleasant daytime temperatures for some great, moderate walking.

Jul –Mountains of Europe

With the last of the snows finally gone from Europe’s high mountain trails from the Pyrenees to the Carpathians, July is the perfect time to lace up those walking boots, dig out your poles and drink in the crisp mountain air.

Aug - Peru

Although the middle of the Peruvian winter, August is a great time to visit Peru for some trekking. Whether you’re taking on the Inca Trail or hiking in the shadow of the magnificent Salkantay, August is, generally, the driest and brightest month to do so. Don’t forget to book well in advance though to secure that Inca pass on your desired dates.

Sep – USA + Canada

September is a great time to visit North America, the heat is subsiding but the blue skies are still vast and the mountains just starting to get snow-dusted peaks. See NYC from a new angle, explore the hoodoos of Bryce Canyon, be amazed by the geysers of Yellowstone and be left speechless by the beauty of the Canadian Rockies.

Oct – Nepal

With the monsoon rains gone leaving the air crystal clear and with the rice paddies and vegetation of lower Himalaya turned a bright green, October is the start of Nepal’s autumn trekking season. Enjoy awesome views of the snow-capped highest peaks of earth before its gets too cold at the higher altitudes. October is the perfect month to trek in Nepal.
Nepal treks in October AS, AN, RT

Nov – Cuba and Central America

With Autumn turning to Winter time to head to the tropics for some walking, wildlife and culture. November is a perfect time to head down to central America to discover the Latino beats and to walk in the diverse regions. Volcanoes in Nicaragua, rainforests in Costa Rica and the beautiful colonial cities of Havana and Trinidad in Cuba.

Dec – Asia

Escape the bleak weather and head to the warmth of Asia for December. From India and Sri Lanka to Vietnam and Cambodia, the rainy season has ended and the heat and humidity are at their least oppressive.
