What to expect on a cycling tour in Vietnam

When is the best time to go on a cycling vacation in Vietnam? 
Vietnam’s weather varies a lot from north to south, but the best time for a comfortable cycling tour is between October and February, when it’s cooler and drier. A light rain jacket is recommended year round.

How challenging are cycling vacations in Vietnam?
Our trips are graded either Easy or Moderate. Easy tours move at a more relaxed pace - with shorter routes, gentler ascents and quieter routes, and are suitable for anyone that enjoys cycling at a more comfortable pace. If you have a reasonable level of fitness and are used to rolling terrain and the occasional climb, a Moderate trip will suit you.

What will the group be like on a cycling vacation in Vietnam? 

Every group of travelers is different, but typically, it consists of roughly half couples and half solo cyclists with a real mix of ages and genders. Want to know more about the group for a particular departure? Ask our sales team – we can give a rough idea of the kinds of travelers are on a particular departure. 

What do I need to bring on a Vietnam cycling tour? 
You’ll need to bring is your own bicycle helmet, as these are not supplied. We highly recommend also packing padded shorts cycle gloves and at least one water bottle to make sure you stay comfortable, alongside a small rucksack to wear on your back while you cycle containing a waterproof jacket, camera, food and drinks. While you ride, your main luggage will be transported for you in the support vehicle.

What will the food be like on a cycling tour in Vietnam?
Vietnamese food is fresh, fragrant, delicious and offered from a range of venues, from food stalls and street kitchens to restaurants serving quality cuisine. Don’t miss Pho – Vietnam’s iconic noodle soup - or Hanoi’s specialty Bun Cha – grilled pork with noodles.
