Then head out of the city to find monasteries enveloped by the verdant mountainscape and adorned with distinctive striped brickwork. Hop on a train to travel further into the lush alpine hills, and gaze at the vast mountain vistas as we climb to the highest valley in the country. There is plenty to see on the Black Sea coast too.
