We've answered the most commonly asked questions about our biking vacations in France:

When is the best time the go on a biking vacation in France?

In general, the best time to visit is between April and October as the weather will be mostly warm and dry. However, be aware that temperatures can get very high in the south of France, so you may want to go in spring or autumn to avoid the hottest months. The climate does vary depending on the region of France you visit, so check the country information section on a trip page to get a better idea of the best time to go.

How difficult are the biking tours in France?

The difficulty grade of our biking vacations in France range from Easy to Moderate. The Easy biking vacations generally cover flat terrain on well-maintained paths so you don't need to have a lot of biking experience, or have done a biking vacation before. The Moderate trips cover longer distances each day and some hillier terrain.

Are bikes provided?

Yes, hybrid-style bicycles are included in the price of our trips. These generally have front suspension and 21 gears, but models can vary depending on the trip. For an additional cost you have the option of hiring an electric bike (e-bike), which make it easier to cover long distances and give you an extra boost on hills. Check the biking information section of a trip page to find out if the e-bike option is available. Whatever bike you choose, you'll need to take your own bike helmet.

What happens to my luggage?

On some trips you will have a driver with your group in addition to your leader, who will be transport your luggage in the support vehicle while your leader rides with you. Often on our France biking vacations your leader will also be your driver, and they will transport your luggage between accommodation while you bike. On these days you will be provided with maps to get you to the next stop.

What's the accommodation like?

All of our biking trips in France include comfortable hotels, usually of 3-star standard. We choose small, family-run hotels where possible that are located in the best place to suit the itinerary. Rooms have en-suite facilities and some may have a swimming point so you can cool off after a day's adventure.

What is the food like?

Food and drink is a big part of our France biking tours, with many itineraries including options to visit vineyards and taste the local food and wine. Some meals will be included with your trip, most commonly breakfast only - check the trip page for details. Where meals are not included, your leader will be able to recommend local restaurants and can organize bookings for your group if you wish.
