Best family destinations in Europe

  1. Get active in Tuscany – Experience canyoning and zip wires in the Turrite Valley on our Tuscany Multi-Activity Adventure. Arriving at the pretty village of Fornolovasco, you can canyon down the Rio Pinguino in the Parco Battifero which allows us to try some small water jumps. After a relaxed lunch back at Fornolovasco, take a walk up the dry canyon to descend back down with time to see the amazing caves. Back at base, there’s time to zip wire across to the café to relax at the bar with an ice cream.

  2. Kayak between Islands in Croatia– Explore inlets, bays and neighboring islands just off the coast of Dubrovnik, by kayak and stand up paddle board on our Family Dubrovnik and Croatian Island Adventure. Swim and snorkel in the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic Sea and play some beach games on the beach at your base island Lopud.

  3. Sail the shimmering seas in Turkey –Cruising the Turquoise Coast on a traditional gullet, discover the shoreline of the ancient kingdom of Lycia. Swim and snorkel straight from the boat in quiet coves and crystal clear waters. Drop anchor in the sheltered bay of Kekova and discover the ancient heritage on shore with its whitewashed villages, sunken ruins and medieval castle.

We have different paces of trip to suit different families and ages of children. Our ‘Relaxed’ holidays have chilled mornings and dedicated pool days. Our ‘Moderate’ trips have fuller days with down-time built into the itinerary whereas our ‘Full-On’ family holidays are busier, with some early starts and longer travel days.

What age are the children on a family Holiday in Europe?
The average age of children travelling on our trips to Europe is 13, though it will depend on the trip you choose. If you would like to get an idea of who is travelling on a particular trip, get in touch with our travel specialists and we can share the number and ages of children on your chosen trip so you can find the right fit for your family.

Is there an age limit for children on a European family tour?
To make sure that you get the most out of your European family tour, there is a minimum age limit of seven years on the date of departure for the majority of our trips. For some trips, there is a minimum age of 11.

How many families travel together on a small group family adventure in Europe?
In general, you will travel with three to five other families on a family adventure in Europe. We have found this is the perfect number for meeting likeminded people with similar-ages children while being a small enough group to get to the heart of our destinations.

What is the accommodation like on a family holiday in Europe?
You will stay in a mixture of locally-owned hotels, homestays, and characterful lodges on your family tour in Europe. Where possible, we make sure that you have at least two nights in the same place so you don’t have to unpack and repack too often. As swimming pools are one of the most important hotel features for families, we always try to find family-friendly accommodation with pools.
