Under 18 immigration guidance
Please note that some countries require proof of parental consent when travelling overseas with under 18s. Please check requirements with the relevant embassy or consular office well in advance of travel if this applies to your party.
Visa and Passport Information
India: Visas are required for citizens of the UK, Australia, New Zealand, US and Canada, all other nationalities should consult their local embassy or consular office.
E-visas are available for USA, Australian and New Zealand citizens, please contact your nearest embassy for details of how to apply.
Whilst E-visas were previously available for UK and Canadian citizens, this service is temporarily on hold and visa applications must be made through your nearest application centre.
For UK citizens, for ease of process, we strongly suggest you consider applying through Explore's recommended visa service provider, Travcour. Visit www.travcour.com to download the relevant visa application for your trip, along with details of how to apply for your visa through Travcour. They can complete the online visa on your behalf, submit the application in person and return your passport for a fee of £125 + the visa cost. Please be aware that if applying through VFS Global you will need to book an appointment to submit your application and these appointments are in high demand so waiting times can be long. Your visa will be returned via courier up to 15 days after the application has been lodged.
Whichever method you choose we recommend you begin the application process twelve weeks before departure. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are in possession of a full passport, with the correct validity for your chosen destination.
Sikkim: Please do not apply for a Sikkim permit, this will be organised locally for you by our local agent.
Bhutan: A visa for Bhutan will be arranged locally and is included in the tour cost. In order to facilitate this please forward the following necessary supporting documents by email to Explore at least 8 weeks before your departure:-
a scanned colour copy of your passport
a copy of your NHS Covid 19 Pass (i.e. proof of Vaccination status)
a copy of your travel insurance confirming medical cover for Covid 19 - please highlight relevant Covid 19 wording in the document
Nepal: An entry visa is required by UK, New Zealand, Australian, US & Canadian citizens and can be obtained on arrival at Kathmandu Airport and various international border crossings between Nepal and its neighbouring countries. This currently costs 30 USD for a 15 day visa, 50 USD for a 30 day visa and 125 USD for a 90 day visa. All visas are issued as multiple entry visas and are valid from the date they are issued. There have been reports of lengthy delays when completing the form to obtain the visa at the airport, especially during peak times. We therefore recommend that you fill in the visa information prior to arrival using the following link: http://online.nepalimmigration.gov.np/. This will produce a receipt with a barcode, which you will need to print off and produce on arrival to obtain the visa. Please note if you are filling in the form before you arrive, please do so only within 15 days of arrival as application forms are only stored for a maximum of 15 days.
Whether you are filling in the form on arrival or before, a passport-sized photograph for immigration is required along with the exact cash. Payment must be made in cash, UK sterling and US dollars are both accepted.
If you are ineligible for the visa on arrival or wish to obtain a visa before you travel, please refer to your nearest Nepal embassy.

Minimum age restrictions
For our group tours, the minimum age is 16
. The minimum age on Family trips varies between 7 and 11 - please check the 'Family information' section of the trip page for more information.

Booking a land only package with Explore
Customers who have chosen to book on the ‘Land Only’ arrangements of our tour, please ensure that you have checked your tour specific ‘Joining Instructions’ prior to booking your own travel arrangements. Your joining instructions can be found below in the dates and prices information.
You may also be eligible for the Free Explore Transfer.
Joining Tour Abroad
Customers booked on the ‘Land Only’ arrangements will receive a Free Transfer, provided you arrive and depart on the tour only itinerary start and end dates. The complimentary transfers will be arranged from the Explore designated airport or train station to your trips joining point, and then back from the ending point to the designated airport or train station. Generally the airport or station that Explore have selected will be the one that is closest to the town or city where the trip starts, or the one nearest to the joining point. It will be either an airport or train station but not both.
The exception to this rule is customers who are booked on a tour where the joining and ending point is at the designated airport or train station.
Free transfers are not available for Self-Guided, Polar, Tailormade or Tours for Churches customers.
If you are not eligible for the Free Transfer then you will need to make your own way through to the joining and ending point. On a majority of our tours Explore will be able to provide a private transfer at an additional cost. Please ask for a quote at the time of booking.

You are able to book this tour on a 'land only' basis or as a ‘flight inclusive’ package. Your flight inclusive package will be fully protected by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) ATOL protection scheme.
