vancouver bc
the two day trips from caye caulker were the highlight of the whole trip, seeing sharks, sting rays and turtles, not to mention the coral and all the different fish

Crooked tree lagoon Barton creek cockscomb reserve and of course Tikal. Make sure they take long sleeve shirts and long trousers and lots of bug repellent

This trip is a fabulous mixture of wildlife, beautiful countryside, amazing Mayan temples, gorgeous beaches/snorkelling, all encased in the relaxed Belizean culture that you just wish you could bring back to the UK...
Highlights - sitting at the top of a Mayan temple as dawn broke, canoeing into a massive cave, some great boat trips (river, lake and sea!), howler and spider monkeys in the trees above our heads, etc., etc.
Our local and very knowledgeable guide definitely went the "extra mile", without a second's hesitation wading across a river in flood as he showed our driver the location of the shallowest parts of the ford.
Tips: a) there are some long and bumpy journeys, so be prepared for them! b) bring a good torch for the pre-dawn and late evening explorations! c) there are lots of unavoidable bugs, so cover-up clothing (lightweight) is best.

The great thing about the trip was variety: being with howler monkeys in a community sanctuary project; seeing amazing Mayan sites; snorkelling off cayes; spotting and learning about so many colourful birds; seeing manatees, sting rays and nursery sharks swimming in the sea; accommodation inland by wildlife lagoons, in local towns and right by the beach. And, of course, TOUCANS!
