One of the best Explore holidays that I have had. I did so many exciting things, visited wonderful places and learnt so much during the tour: zipwire in Costa Rica, interesting walks in the countryside with Romeo our tour guide who was very knowledgeable about wildlife, Panama Canal, Mayan site in Honduras, colonial history in Nicaragua and Guatamala are a just few highlights. Usually Explore holidays are usually full on with little time to breath, however, I had plenty of free time on this tour, with lots of options at each place that I stayed, so I was able to have a relaxing time. Hotels were also very good.

I have just returned from this tour a very happy man.The range of experiences, the people we met and the standard of the accommodation were all excellent value. And to the person at explore who managed to organize so many nights of carnival along the way, thank you. I have danced and sung my way through Central America. To have been able to climb volcanoes, swim in the Caribbean, visit beautiful islands eat beautiful food and be given a real feel for life in this area has provided me with an exceptional experience. so a big thank you to Explore and a a very thank you for our wonderful guide RomeoDuring the tour Romeo was faced with a few in the group who would not have been happy if he had been the best guide in the universe. I am sure one or two people have written and complained. I am afraid THAT this says more about them than it does about our wonderful guide Romeo. To get us through five countries, provide us with so much knowledge, to ensure that we were all safe and to be constantly opening OUR minds to this area takes a man of rare ability. One of my abiding memories of this trip will be that I was blessed to meet a caring, thoughtful man who was full of humanity and who was always prepared to go the extra mile for us. As I said at the beginning I was aware of some grumblings but there were a large number in the group who were very happy with Romeo and who thought some people would never been happy what ever he did. THANK YOU ROMEO IT WAS A REAL PLEASURE BEING LED BY YOU.

In no particular order:
Panama Canal - actually didn't think I'd be so intrigued by it, but was
Montverde Cloud Forest - wished there had been time for zip wire as well as canopy walk.
Perfect volcanoes by the score, and one even spewed lava for us near Antigua
Monkey encounters, and general fauna
Warm Caribbean waters
General flora - bromeliads by the billion
Info and sites of Mayan culture

Tip:
Dip your toe in the Pacific Ocean when in Panama, don't get opportunity again, even though so close when in Leon.
Bring book/music for long minibus journeys, though I was happy just staring out the window at the scenery.

I absolutely loved this trip! So much was crammed into the time. I loved the variety of places visited and the range of experiences on offer. Highlights included Bocas del Toro, completing a zip wire canopy tour, volcano walks, diving on Roatan, the Mayan ruins at Copan. The hotels were good and well situated. Romeo was great - knowledgeable, approachable, good humoured, considerate. He was always at hand to share information, offer advice and make life easier for members of the group. An excellent guide.

Covered a lot on the tour - so much to see in every country, but tour didn't feel particularly frantic. Plenty of time to relax in between travel, and enough free time to do what you wanted.
Highlights included snorkelling in Bocas del Toro, wildlife in Sarapiqui, Ometepe, Revolution Museum in Leon, exploring Copan, Antigua and beautiful Lake Atitlan.
Suggest spending a few days in Panama acclimatising before joining the trip. Recommend the Panama Canal Railway (surprised it wasn't included in the tour as its the only railway in Central America)
Expect some rain in the rainy season!

The variety of places, accommodation and activities. It was classified as 'Full On" and it was so be prepared for that. Too many highlights, as with most Explore trips, but the ones that spring to mind (it was a year ago!) are Panama Canal, Caribbean-type beaches, all types of forest and fauna, trip to a chocolate plantation and museum, Copan ruins, old colonial cities and particularly a Sunday visit to the Mayan town of Chichicastananga in Guatemala.

Well we have done a lot of travelling with Explore and they always go off the beaten track where other companies don't go which is good.
