What Was The Highlight Or Most Memorable Moment Of Your Tour

Vilnius- an unexpected treasure.

How Was Your Explore Tour Leader

Acceptable - could have been better, but a very nice person, very helpful.

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

Arrive early in Tallinn; lots of things to do.

Do You Have Anything Else To Add

Not an exciting trip, but very interesting, well worth it.

What Was The Highlight Or Most Memorable Moment Of Your Tour

I was enchanted by the city of Tallinn. It has fairy-tale castles, cobbled streets and an amazing town square. Around every corner was another medieval building with a fascinating history.

Jolita

How Was Your Explore Tour Leader

Jolita is from Lithuania but she is very knowledgeable about the history of all three Baltic Republics. On each road journey she would come round with a map to show every one of us the route we would be following and how long it would take. She has a lovely sunny nature and infectious smile.

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

Be prepared for very chunky cobbled streets in all the towns and cities, so dainty shoes will simply stay in the suitcase! Beer afficionados will enjoy a variety of draught beers at very low prices (try the dark versions - they are a bit sweeter than most UK ones and have lots of flavour). As for food, we found excellent value throughout, but especially in the lunch-time places where you join a queue and choose from the dishes available (Riga has a very good one but don't sit outside or the pigeons will get you!)

Do You Have Anything Else To Add

I certainly learned a lot about the troubled history of these three countries. Make time to visit at least one of the Museums of Occupation - the one in Riga is excellent. You can easily spend a half day there and you just leave an appropriate donation as you leave.

What Was The Highlight Or Most Memorable Moment Of Your Tour

There were many highlights: exploring the cities, discovering new foods (Zeppelins in Lithuania are delicious!), wandering along the Curonian Spit, and especially attending the Latvian Song and Dance Festival in Riga.

How Was Your Explore Tour Leader

Our leader was fantastic. She is friendly and approachable, as well as extremely well-informed about the destinations. She is one of the best tour leaders that I have had.

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

If you are planning to take this trip in 2014, try to have your trip coincide with one of the Baltic song festivals. Both Estonia and Lithuania are having their festivals in early July 2014. These festivals only occur every 5 years in Estonia and Latvia, and every 4 years in Lithuania. I attended the Latvian festival in 2013, and it was an amazing experience. Music is everywhere in the city and the festival culminates with a concert with 20,000 singers. Truly a phenomenal sight!

Do You Have Anything Else To Add

I loved this trip. The countries are beautiful, the people are friendly, and this tour gives you a great balance of group vs free time, so that you can explore these places well and make your own discoveries. I highly recommend it!

What Was The Highlight Or Most Memorable Moment Of Your Tour

Wandering Old Town Tallinn (Estonia), canal boat ride through Riga (Latvia), walking the sand dunes at Neringa Spit (Lithuania).

How Was Your Explore Tour Leader

Simona was excellent. She was intelligent, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and articulate. Her knowledge of the Baltic countries and their histories was vast, and her first hand experiences (living through the early 90s when the countries regained their independent) was fascinating.

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

This is NOT an ACTIVE tour. There are many interesting things to see but it is a very slow paced trip through three relatively slow paced countries. Be prepared for a couple long driving days that are thankfully broken up with stops at various sites. "Castles, Cathedrals and Churches!" seemed to be the theme for the two weeks.

Do You Have Anything Else To Add

If you have the time and want to "tick off" another country, book yourself an extra day or two in Tallinn so you can take a day trip to Helsinki via the ferry. Or better yet, fly to Helsinki, spend a few days there then take the ferry to Tallinn to start your trip!

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

"Riga has left me with wonderful memories of my Baltic Republic Tour.  The old part is charming, with so much history, quaint little streets full of good restaurants and cafes serving scrumptious cakes. Churches restored to their old splendor with concerts being played during the day and evenings.  The Opera House with great perfomances at an affordable price are not to be missed.
What can I say about the part of Riga with its beautiful Art Deco buildings so well preserved; a delightful feast for the eyes"
