What Was The Highlight Or Most Memorable Moment Of Your Tour

This was a fantastic and well organised tour. Magnificent views, stunning scenery brought alive by the knowledge of the Tour Leader. All accomodation was excellent including the camping experience on the trail...including three course meals prepared by the chef....we even had a cake! The Jungle experience was also fantastic with again wonderful scenery in the very hot and humid conditions.

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

Train hard for a few months and then walk easy !! Take fewer clothes and more money. Take ponchos instead of expensive heavier waterproofs. Have fun ...you are supposed to be enjoying yourselves ...we did!!

Do You Have Anything Else To Add

The camping experience was fantastic but could have been improved by one addition - plastic sheeting between the outer and inner tent doors to prevent dirt entering the tent and to provide a clean surface to get in and out. The Jungle trip was let down by the facilities and general maintenance at Eco Amazonia. This ranged from poor maintenance of equipment...lights, fans fittings etc. to lack of and sometimes conflicting information about daily timetables. One tour was planned to commence at 7am with a wake up call at 6am....but were woken up at 5. Some group members discovered about the itineries by over-hearing conversations to other groups. Even though itineries were published on noticebaords they were not followed...confusion !!! The food was very good but the bar times seemed to be random!

Our Response

Thank you for your feedback. It’s good to know you enjoyed the trip so much! Your idea about the plastic sheet sounds like a good one, and we’ve asked our Peruvian agent to try and source these for future groups.  We were sorry to read your comments on the Eco Amazonia lodge – it’s one of our more popular ones. Maintenance matters can be a little difficult in the jungle due to transport issues, but there is no excuse for inadequate or inaccurate information being given about the activities. We have a very good sub-agent in Puerto Maldonado who looks after our Amazon customers, and they will be doing all they can to improve this for us.

What Was The Highlight Or Most Memorable Moment Of Your Tour

Its so hard to describe a highlight as the whole trip was amazing. I left home thinking about the Inca Trail and Macchu Pichu but the 2 weeks was so much more than that. I loved the day spent on Lake Titicaca including the beautidul Uros and tquile Islands. But the most memorable trip was waking up on the last day camping on the Trail. We'd gone to bed in mist and woke up todiscover we were in the most beautiful spot and had the campsite to ourselves sat in the mddle of the valleys knowing Macchu Pichu was at the end of that days walk!!

How Was Your Explore Tour Leader

Nilton was a fantastic tour leader. He was great fun, passionate about his country and extremely knowledgeable. Everything was considered and catered for and timed to perfection. His choice in resataurants every evening meant you always knew there was a treat in store. He was caring and respectful of the environment and the porters on the Trek and I felt very safe and happy in his capable hands expecially important as a solo traveller.

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

Clothing wise layers is best as its cold in the morning and at a night but the daytime can get brights sunny and warm. Invest in a good sleeping bag, you'll need it on the trek and don't forget those metal water bottles, they came in really handy as hot water bottles at night!!

Do You Have Anything Else To Add

Explore did a fantastic job! This trip wsa so well organised and timed to erfection. You never feelrushed or like you have too much time anywhere its just perfect. As for the food on the trek,, what they can cook on 2 rings puts me to shame. All the food was superb and exactly what you wanted after a day walking and the diet was carefully considered to match your bodies needs. A superb holiday, I wouldn't hesitate to book another Explore holiday, the question is where next!

What Was The Highlight Or Most Memorable Moment Of Your Tour

The Inca Trail prior to Machu Picchu. The quietness and peace of the trail in contract to Machu Picchu was truly amazing. Nilton found us some wonderful places to camp and took on the trail at quieter times. An awesome experience.

Top class - he really couldn't do enough for our group and communicated his passion for Peru to all of us.

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

This tour is so much more than Machu Picchu; it's really about understanding Peru and the way it's developed over the centuries. It made it so much more than I expected.
